Guide Information

You should not continually eject your microSD card to manage the contents. The microSD slot on the Switch is of poor quality and will break if you constantly eject/insert the microSD card. Nintendo never intended, or saw a scenario where you’d need to keep removing the microSD card. This method will allow you to mount your microSD card to manage the contents without ejecting.

What You Need

  • Any Switch With CFW
  • Hekate Bootloader Folder & Payload
  • MicroSD Card (64GB+)
  • USB Cable
  • PC

Transfer Files Via USB

  1. Make sure you have the Hekate bootloader folder on the root of your microSD card, and the corresponding hekate_ctcaer_x.x.x.bin payload. If you don’t have them click the link below and extract the hekate_ctcaer_x.x.x_Nyx_x.x.x.zip to the root of your microSD card.

  1. Insert your microSD card into your Switch > put your Switch into RCM > inject the hekate_ctcaer_x.x.x.bin to boot into Hekate.
  1. Set the Time/Date.

  1. Connect your Switch to your PC using a USB cable.

  1. On the Hekate home screen, select Tools > USB Tools > SD Card. This will allow you to access the Switch microSD card on your PC without powering off your Switch, or ejecting the microSD card.

  1. You will see a Status: Started UMS message in Hekate and you should be able to see your Switch microSD card on your PC in the file browser window as if you have inserted it into your PC.

  • Never allow your PC to format an emuMMC partition. Click Cancel if asked.
  1. When you’re done transferring, press both Volume buttons together on your Switch to eject the connection from your PC, or eject from your PC. You will see the Status: Disk ejected inside Hekate.

  1. Select Close > Close > Home.

  • If you updated your CFW using this, select Reload on the Hekate home screen afterwards.
