Backup NAND

Guide Information

Creating a NAND backup is the one thing everyone with a Switch should do before they do anything else relating to CFW. It allows you to restore your Switch at a later date if you want to clean stuff up, or if you were to install something malicious that bricks your Switch.

What You Need

Backup NAND

  1. Make sure you have the Hekate bootloader folder on the root of your microSD card, and the corresponding hekate_ctcaer_x.x.x.bin payload. If you don’t have them click the link below and extract the hekate_ctcaer_x.x.x_Nyx_x.x.x.zip to the root of your microSD card.
  1. Insert your microSD card into your Switch > put your Switch into RCM > inject the hekate_ctcaer_x.x.x.bin to boot into Hekate.
  1. Set the Time/Date.
  1. Select Tools > Backup eMMC > eMMC BOOT0 & BOOT1.
  1. Once the backup finishes select Close > eMMC RAW GPP.
  1. Once the backup finishes select Close > Close.
  1. Copy the backup folder to your PC for safekeeping, then delete it from your microSD card.
