Guide Information

Install the latest Switchway CFW Pack and update the system firmware directly from your Switch without using a PC or needing to access your microSD card.
  • 10+ Minutes
  • Remove your custom theme prior to using this guide.
  • Outdated sysmodules in the atmosphere/contents folder may cause boot errors. Either delete the atmosphere/contents folder prior to using this guide, or update the sysmodules afterwards.

What You Need

  • Any Switch With CFW
  • AIO Switch Updater (Switchway Version)
  • MicroSD Card (64GB+)

Add AIO Switch Updater

  • Only required if you've not used this guide previously or aren't already using our CFW packs.
  1. Download the software from the link below and extract it to the root of your microSD card.

Update Switchway CFW Pack

  1. Boot Atmosphere CFW on your Switch, open the Album and run the AIO Switch Updater app.

  1. Scroll down to Custom downloads, select the correct CFW pack from the list on the right for the type of Switch you have and press A.

  1. Select Continue to download the Switchway CFW Pack.

  1. Select Yes when asked if you want to overwrite existing .ini config files and the pack will be extracted.

  1. Select No when asked if you want to copy the Hekate payload or Hekate itself. Your Switch will reboot to Hekate.

  1. Set the Time/Date.

Update System Firmware

  1. On the Hekate home screen, select Launch, then choose one of the options below:

    • Atmosphere CFW on emuMMC:
      CFW emuMMC fss0 (CFW on MicroSD Card). This will boot into Atmosphere on emuMMC.
    • Atmosphere CFW on sysMMC:
      CFW sysMMC fss0 (CFW on Device Memory). This will boot into Atmosphere on sysMMC.

  1. Open the Album and run the AIO Switch Updater app.

  1. Scroll down to Download firmwares and look over to the right, the latest firmware version is displayed above the list of available firmwares.
  • Firmware links can take a few days to be updated after new firmware is released.

  1. There are be 2 different sites hosting the firmwares available for download. The [mega.nz] link seems to download the quickest so select that link.

  1. Select Continue to download the latest firmware.

  1. Select Yes when asked if you want to launch Daybreak to install the downloaded sysupdate. Daybreak will launch and display the Update information.

  1. Wait a moment for the Update is valid! notice, then select Continue.

  1. Select Preserve Settings, then Install (FAT32 + exFAT) regardless of microSD card format.

  1. Select Continue on the Ready to begin update installation screen, then select Reboot once the firmware is installed. Your Switch will reboot to Hekate.

  1. On the Hekate home screen, select Launch, then choose one of the options below:

  1. Open System Settings and scroll down to System. It will show:

  1. Delete the Firmware folder on your microSD card.

  1. Copy the hekate_ctcaer_xxx.bin from the root of your microSD card to your desktop. Use it to inject from the device you use to send payloads (Unpatched Switch only).
